About the project

As human and designer, my intentions are always to work under ethical principles of fair trade commerce, looking to create products that worth for their human, cultural and material values. “Hands that Weave Life & Dreams” is a project where none of participants are exploited and they always get a fair payment.

The Paez weaving tradition or -in general- all the Colombian weaving culture tells a single story,  no matter who is weaving, what symbols or worldview are used neither what type of thread is using. As Social Designer, I see the traditional weaving Colombian bags as a social and cultural condition. Because the only action of weaving in family or communities, the need of teaching this tradition into new generations while using native languages, and the excuse of looking to protect this Colombian cultural heritage.

“Hands that Weave Life & Dreams” bags are made by Paez native people and local Leather Craftworkers highlighting their culture, how the product is made and what materials are used into the process. “Design it always has a history, it belongs to a tradition and it is part of a system”.
